今年夏天,仁人學社有幸與醫院管理局九龍西聯網創新實驗室合作,在瑪嘉烈醫院為醫護工作者舉辦了一節設計思維工作坊,對現有醫療服務進行創新。傳統以來,醫護界改進及創新服務一般會側重專業知識和技術方面,而在這次工作坊中,醫護人員退後一步,以同理心重新想像和了解醫療服務的使用者──病人。這些來自不同專業背景的醫護人員透過重新了解病人的旅程,發現了一些先前未曾發現的服務缺口和需求——而這些,正正是改進和創新公共醫療服務的絕佳可能性,更是提醒我們要「以病人為本」地提供患者所需的服務和關懷。
我們樂於看到醫護同工進一步開展醫療服務創新的旅程。期待在未來看到更多以人為本的醫療服務誕生!

“At the end of the day, innovation is not just about creating something “new”, but revealing and tackling unsolved problems users face. ”
This summer, we collaborated with the Innovation Lab of Kowloon West Cluster of Hospital Authority to conduct a Design Thinking Experiential Workshop with medical professionals in Princess Margaret Hospital. While normative approaches on service improvement and innovation would focus on knowledge sharing and technology, at this workshop, they took a step back to empathise and reimagine their users—the patients. As these medical workers, who have various expertise, revisited the journey of their patients, they discovered several service gaps and needs that are yet to be met. These presented great opportunities to improve and innovate public medical services. To deliver excellent services to patients, the knowledge and professionalism of medical workers are undoubtedly key. Yet, through the Design Thinking Workshop, they were reminded that it is also crucial to put patients at the center of their attention and provide service and care that patients need.
We are more than happy to see that hospital management are now ready to commence their journeys of innovating on medical services. We look forward to seeing more human-centred services in our public hospitals in the future!
